M-PESA services to be unavailable on Sunday night

Safaricom has announced that its mobile money services M-PESA will be unavailable on Sunday night due to a scheduled system maintenance.

“We will be conducting scheduled system maintenance on the night of Sunday, 11th August 2024, from 11pm to 4am on Monday, 12th August,” Safaricom says in a statement.

During the maintenance, the telco says access to Lipa Na M-PESA Paybil, Buy Goods and Services, International Money Transfers (Western Union), M-PESA Global as well as mySafaricom apps will be intermittent.

‘’All other services including calls, data, SMS, and all other M-PESA services will be available as usual’’ a statement further reads.

“The timing of this maintenance has been planned to result in the least inconvenience to our customers. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding as we strive to provide you with best-in-class services,” the company adds.

Last month, Safaricom was forced to reschedule the system maintenance following a public uproar. The rescheduling according to Safaricom was necessitated by the UEFA European Football Championship (Euros) finals and another for Copa América that had been scheduled for that weekend.

In a statement, Safaricom said it had taken into consideration the feedback received after announcing the maintenance.

“We hear you, and we value your feedback. The scheduled system maintenance later this evening has been rescheduled to a later date to allow you to enjoy a worry-free M-PESA on this sport-packed evening,” it said.
