Ory Okolloh and Francesco Bianco exit Safaricom board

Safaricom announced on Thursday the departure of Ory Okolloh and Francesco Bianco from its board of directors.

In a statement issued by the acting company secretary, Lisa Wambani, Safaricom confirmed that Okolloh’s tenure ended on July 24, 2024, while Francesco Bianco is slated to leave on August 1, 2024.

The decisions were made following a comprehensive board meeting held on July 24, 2024.

Safaricom expressed gratitude to both Bianco and Okolloh for their significant contributions during their respective tenures. The telecommunications giant acknowledged their invaluable input in board committees and meetings, wishing them success in their future endeavors.

”The board takes this opportunity to thank Mr. Bianco and Ms. Okolloh for their invaluable and robust contributions in the committees and at board meetings during their tenure and wishes the two all the best in their future endeavours” the telco said.

Ory Okolloh joined Safaricom’s board in February of the previous year, contributing her expertise to the company’s strategic decisions. Francesco Bianco, on the other hand, has been an integral part of Safaricom for the past four years, bringing his wealth of experience to the telecommunications sector.

While Safaricom did not disclose the names of their replacements, they assured stakeholders that an announcement regarding new board members would follow in due course.

”The Board will announce their replacement in due course,” Safaricom said.
