Three ColorOs14 features to check out on the OPPO Reno11 series

OPPO recently unveiled its Reno11 Series in Kenya. The Series comes in two variants –  Reno11 5G and Reno11 Pro 5G and features the latest ColorOS 14 based on Android 14.

ColorOS is OPPO’s custom skin and with the introduction of ColorOS 14, OPPO brings a new way of how we look at modern smartphones. The company says ColorOS 14 brings more intelligent, more intuitive, and more secure features for the smoothest experience yet on OPPO devices.

Should you buy one of the devices in the Reno11 series, you will be among the first people to experience ColorOS 14.

In this article. though, we look at three favorite things OPPO has focused on with the latest update. Hopefully, we will get our hands on one of the devices to give you a first-hand experience of the new features and tweaks OPPO is introducing.

An updated user interface

ColorOS14 user interface

ColorOS has grown to be one of my favourite operating systems. Over the years, OPPO has done a good job of making it user-friendly. With ColorOS 13, the company introduced its Aquamorphic design which came very clean and also brought in more natural colours. OPPO has now enhanced this with ColorOS 14.

The company has introduced a series of upgrades to enhance the calming but dynamic experience brought by the Aquamorphic Design. The new Aquamorphic Colouring system adapts to different scenarios like the phone status, the time, and the content on the screen. By intelligently matching colours with context, this dynamic colouring system makes receiving and absorbing information much more effective and intuitive while providing a highly immersive and comfortable user experience.

OPPO has also added Aqua Dynamics into this mix to help users interact with information more intuitively.  Aqua Dynamics redesigns and integrates frequent forms of interaction into bubbles, capsules, and panels that expand from the status bar to present information in a way that naturally flows and merges. For example, The Smart Sidebar has this new feature that lets you share information between apps on the device and even through all your devices. The File Dock serves as a universal area for storing copied information, be it text, links, or images and is synced across your Oppo smartphones including tablets for up to 30 days.

New Always On-Display Animations

GO Green AOD with ColorOS 14

I have always been a fan of OPPO’s Always On Display animations. In ColorOS13, the company introduced Homeland — a series of Always-On Display animations depicting scenes of animals in their natural habitats as a way of drawing attention to the effects of climate change.

Alongside Homeland AOD, OPPO has now introduced a new GO Green AOD with ColorOS 14 which it says is designed to help you live in a more eco-friendly and healthier way.

This new AOD carbon footprint theme includes 3 sets of Environment Vision page. Each set includes 5 environment-related animations that change based on how many steps you’ve taken each day. You’ll see clearly and intuitively how walking instead of taking other forms of transport can lead to less CO2 emissions. Okay, this is cool.

New Security Tweaks

New Security Tweaks

ColorOS 14 comes with two security features that you should try out.

Picture Keeper for example prevents applications from misusing permissions for your personal photos or videos. With Picture Keeper, you can now set permissions for how each application uses your photos or videos in the Album. This includes a new permission management option for photos and videos called ‘Ask every time’. When enabled, the application must ask for permission in a pop-up window every time it wants to access your photos and videos. When an application requests to use your photos and videos, the permissions pop-up now also includes a ‘Select photos and videos’ option for you to select the exact photo or video.

Then there’s Auto Pixelate which can automatically pixelate sensitive information like avatars and nicknames on chat screenshots by utilizing OPPO’s ondevice processing and local image recognition technologies. New for ColorOS 14, you can now pixelate private information on any picture with just one tap before sharing it with friends.

Well, these are just some of the features you should check out on the new OPPO Reno11 series.

OPPO says users should expect to experience the unmatched and smooth experience of ColorOS 14 on the new Reno11 series available for purchase across all OPPO branded stores countrywide and online through OPPO Kenya website and e-commerce partners such as Jumia & Kilimall at *RRP Ksh67,999 for the Reno11 5G and *RRP Ksh85,999 for the Reno11 Pro 5G.
