Global music streaming giant, Spotify has launched a new feature called āDJā to enhance users’ experience, offering more personalized choices to consumers. The AI-powered DJ mimics a radio DJ and curates and comments about tracks and artists on your playlist.
āThe DJ is a personalized AI guide that knows you and your music taste so well that it can choose what to play for you.ā Spotify said in a statement.
The company further says that this feature, currently available for premium subscribers in U.S and Canada, āwill deliver a curated lineup of music alongside commentary around the tracks and artists we think youāll like in a stunningly realistic voice.Ā ā
The robot is empowered to sort through a usersā music list including old favorites, picking what a user may enjoy and suggest it for your playlist. The DJ will also constantly refresh the lineup based on the usersā feedback.
āIf youāre not feeling the vibe, just tap the DJ button and it will switch it up. The more you listen and tell the DJ what you like (and donāt like!), the better its recommendations get,ā Spotify quipped.
The DJ artificial voice is powered by voice tech developed by Sonantic AI, a startup Spotify purchased last year.Ā The company says that the actual words uttered by the DJ are created from a mix of sources. The streamer explains that it has a group of āexperts in genres who know music and culture inside and out. And no one knows the music scene better than they do.ā
Spotify is riding on the global wave of AI tools that are making a buzz across several industries. This move cements the companyās place as a market leader, able to herald new features to substantial success.
