Telkom Kenya CEO Mugo Kibati named among Top 20 Digital Economy leaders

Telkom Kenya CEO Mugo Kibati has been named among the Top 20 Digital Economy leaders in Kenya by Digital Economy Magazine.

The CEO is among the 20 leaders who the Global digital economy-focused publication says are at the forefront of digitalization in the country. 

He was appointed as Telkom Kenya CEO in November 2018 taking over from Aldo Mareuse left the firm to pursue other interests having led the company from mid-2016.

Before joining Telkom Kenya, he was the Group CEO of Sanlam Kenya PLC and has held other senior leadership positions in both the public as well as the private sector, including being the founding Director General of Kenya’s Vision 2030 Secretariat and serving as Group Managing Director and CEO at East African Cables PLC.

Publisher of Digital Economy Magazine, Mr. Akin Naphtal, said that the listing is to identify and celebrate top-level individuals who are promoting the digital economy and deploying innovative solutions in Kenya.

“We are proud of individuals who are accelerating the development of the digital economy in Kenya with their innovative ideas, intellectual capacities, and solutions,’’ he said.

‘’The listed individuals were identified based on painstaking research, analysis, and reviews of their activities and operations in the digital economy industry in Kenya,” he added. 

Others in the list include Safaricom CEO Peter Ndengwa,  CEO of Huawei, Kenya, Will Meng, Group CEO of Cellulant Kenya, Akshay Grover, Managing Director of Oracle Kenya, David Bunei, Africa Data Centres East Africa Managing Director, Dan Kwach, Mastercard East Africa Country Manager, Shehryar Bakht Ali, and Microsoft Kenya Country Manager Phyllis Migwi among others.
