M-Pesa services to be temporarily unavailable from Saturday midnight


Kenya’s leading telco Safaricom has announced that all M-Pesa services will be unavailable from Saturday 6th November 2021, starting from 2359 hrs to Sunday 0400 hrs.

Safaricom will be conducting system maintenance for the mobile money system during these hours. 

ALL M-Pesa services including airtime purchases, bank to M-Pesa shall be temporarily unavailable.

‘’We’re constantly investing and innovating M-Pesa to ensure that we continue to meet the needs of our customers as well as continue to support our partners and their business ambitions’’ Safaricom said in a statement.

‘’The timing of this maintenance activity has been planned to result in the least of inconvenience to our customers’’ the statement further read.

If you’re a Safaricom customer you have also probably received a text alert on the same so if you were planning to use the service during these hours ensure you plan accordingly. 

M-Pesa according to a recent report is Africa’s largest fintech having reached 50 million monthly active customers in the continent.

Safaricom launched the mobile money service more than 14 years ago in Kenya, and today the service is also available, Tanzania, Mozambique, DRC, Lesotho, Ghana, and Egypt.
