LG’s InstaView Refrigerator uses UVnano technology to remove bacteria from your water

We have already told you so much about the new LG InstaView Refrigerator that LG unveiled at CES 2021.

The new InstaView comes loaded with a number of interesting features including a larger glass panel for its InstaView Door-in-Door system. The fridge’s UVnano™ technology is also featured in the built-in water dispenser for enhanced hygiene while InstaView voice recognition takes hands-free convenience to a whole new level in the kitchen.

In this article, we talk about LG’s UVnano technology.

LG’s UVnano technology harnesses the power of light to effortlessly and effectively maintain a hygienic and germ-free water dispenser tap.

First introduced in 2017 on the company’s most premium water dispenser products, UVnano operates once every hour to remove up to 99.99 per cent of bacteria on the refrigerator’s dispenser tap. For additional peace of mind, users can also activate the UVnano feature with the press of a button.

With this technology, LG wants you to worry less about bacteria in the drinking water from your refrigerator’s in-built dispenser. The tech uses ultraviolet LED light to “virtually eliminate” bacteria on the nozzle.

Remember this is not the first time we’re seeing LG incorporate this technology on its products. Last year, the company released a pair of true wireless earphones, the Tone Free HBS-FN6, that come with a UVnano charging case that kills germs inside.

We have also seen LG offer UVnano technology in its new air-conditioners as well.

With this technology, LG is redefining cleanliness, taking the idea of cleanliness a step further.

A CES 2021 Innovation Awards Best of Innovation winner, LG InstaView Refrigerator also incorporates the LINEARCooling™ and DoorCooling+™, LG’s proven freshness-enhancing systems

“LINEARCooling minimizes temperature fluctuations – the main cause of food spoilage3 – while DoorCooling+ simultaneously cools the entire refrigerator compartment evenly by distributing powerful airflow from a strategically positioned vent.”

“We have leveraged the increase in consumer interest and pushed the boundaries of appliance innovation to deliver exciting products in 2021.” said Lyu Jae-cheol, president of LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solution Company.
