Swvl Launches Long Distance Travel Service in Kenya

A swvl ride to upcountry

Swvl Kenya has introduced a new service suited for long distance travelers. Through the app, users will now book for a ride to a total of 12 destinations including Naivasha, Nakuru, Molo, Eldoret, Narok, Bomet, Kericho, Kisii, Kisumu, Nyeri, Nanyuki & Machakos.

“We are constantly innovating for the Kenyan commuter to provide them with safe, tech-enabled commutes that make it easier for them to travel,” says Dip Patel, the General Manager for Swvl in Kenya.

The company says such services will be highly needed come December a time when most Kenyans travel upcountry for festivities.

Swvl will be partnering with existing Matatu SACCOs that ply along these routes to enable the services.

“This desire is what prompted us to partner with the matatu saccos who already provide this service and help them in streamlining the process of filling up their vehicles by giving them a digital platform,” Dip Patel added.

With the Swvl app, you will be able to book partner shuttles in advance just like the regular rides with fixed prices and fixed departure times.

The company plans to rollout the service in the coming weeks and is inviting interesting operators to join the platform.
