LG’s AI Direct Drive Washer: Everything You Need Know


LG’s new AI-Powered washing machine is now available in the Kenyan market. This front load washing machine was first introduced to the world at the 2020 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) and features an Artificial Intelligent Direct Drive motor or what LG is calling AI DD.

The washer, which also won the CES Innovation Award Deploys AI and Advanced 

Fabric Care to Deliver Unrivaled Convenience, Performance and Speed.

LG’s AI DD washing machine not only detects the volume and weight of each unique laundry load but also uses AI and advanced sensors to identify fabric types in each load. The technology leverages big data on twenty thousand pieces of information related to washer usage and applies settings based on the volume and delicateness of the garments in each load of laundry to provide the most optimized washing cycle. 

This LG says guarantees exceptionally clean laundry every time with the added benefit of an 18 percent fabric care, prolonging the life of every wardrobe.

LG AI Direct Drive Washing Machine Key features

The washing machines feature a TurboWash™ 360 feature that helps in reducing washing time without compromising cleanliness, requiring just 39 minutes to complete a full wash cycle. It also features a  3D Multi Spray also helps get clothes clean in less time by shooting jets of water in four different directions simultaneously for more stain-fighting coverage.

The AI DD washing machine also supports LG Proactive Customer Care – a smart customer solution that leverages advanced AI. This service can immediately alert users to potential problems before they occur, expedite repairs when they are needed and offer useful maintenance tips to keep LG appliances performing their best.

The AI DD washing machine just as Mr. Eden Seo, LG Electronics Home Appliance East Africa Manager said sets a new benchmark for convenience with its larger capacity and customized laundry experience.
