Safaricom Adds Daily Transaction Limit Counter on MPESA Messages

Back in April, the Central Bank of Kenya increased the daily transaction limit on mobile money transfer services in the country from Ksh 140,000 to Ksh 300,000.

That change was more than doubled the amount of cash that can be sent on a single transaction via mobile money from Ksh 70,000 to Ksh 150,000.

The move was part of the CBK’s initiative to encourage more use of mobile money over physical cash.

Now, Safaricom has added an additional message on each MPESA transaction so users can know the remaining amount of cash they can transact before their daily Ksh 300,000 limit is exhausted.
