Here Is Why You Should Update Your Twitter Android App Immediately
Twitter recently stated that it’s Android app had a vulnerability that could allow malicious actors to view private user information.
Through this vulnerability, hackers could be able to insert “malicious code into restricted storage areas of the Twitter app,” thus gaining access to private information like Direct Messages, protected Tweets, and even location information.
With that information, the company said malicious actors could be able to control a user account and perform actions like sending DMs and even tweets.
Although there isn’t proof of the vulnerability being exploited in the wild, Twitter says they “are taking extra caution.”
All user accounts that might have been exploited by the vulnerability are already being notified with “specific instructions” to help keep them safe. So, be sure to check out your emails for a similar email.
The easy way out as of now is to update your Twitter Android App to the latest version. For iOS users, you are safe from this bug.
“We’re sorry this happened and will keep working to keep your information secure on Twitter,” Twitter said in a statement.
