Huawei Y9s Preorders Go Live in Kenya

Huawei Y9S was announced in Kenya mid this month, and the company had promised to open the pre-order window on 22nd but failed to make it happen. Now, the company has announced that the pre-orders are now open as from yesterday, precisely six days late than previously planned.

For those who have been waiting for this phone, now is the perfect time to reserve a unit for yourself. In the one week Huawei Y9s pre-order campaign, any buyers of the device will be gifted with free headphones in all retail stores across the country.

The phone will be available locally as of December 1st. Speaking of the pre-order window, Huawei’s Country President Steven Li said the Y9S launch had sparked interest in the market, which indicated that there is a need for a new device and consumers are confident in their products.

He further stated that the company is certain that they will be able to get over 1000 pre-orders in the one-week pre-sale window.

“We are confident that over 1000 pre-orders will be made in the coming week ahead of the official availability of the devices in all our retail stores beginning of December,” said Huawei Mobile Kenya Country President.

Huawei Y9S retails at Ksh 31,999 with the few minor upgrades it brings from its predecessor Huawei Y9 Prime 2019.  Huawei Y9S is a 6.5-inch device with FHD+ resolution running on Huawei’s own capable Kirin 710F processor aided by 6GB of RAM.

The phone has a fingerprint sensor placed on the side, and ships with 128GB of internal storage (expandable up to 512GB via microSD card). The camera is a quad setup on the back composed of a 48MP primary lens backed by an 8MP ultra-wide lens, a 2MP lens, and an autofocus lens.

On the front is a 16MP lens. The phone is powered by a 4,000mAh battery and ships with a 10W fast charger out of the box.
