After we had got wind of Apple employing contractors to listen to your audio recordings from Siri, the company has officially stated they are shutting down the program.
The program involved human contractors listening to your Siri recordings that in turn graded the audio recordings depending on whether; recordings were deliberate or accidental, whether Siri could help with the query and finally if the response provided was appropriate.
Apple has now come public stating that they are ending the Siri grading program.
āWe are committed to delivering a great Siri experience while protecting user privacy. While we conduct a thorough review, we are suspending Siri grading globally. Additionally, as part of a future software update, users will have the ability to choose to participate in grading.ā Apple spokesman stated.
So the program is not gone forever, but will still be available in the future since it is the only way that Siriās performance can be rated and improved. Moving forward, it is not clear when this will happen and or when Apple will reopen the program again.
Google, their close counterpart, has also hinted a similar move, but only for EU users. In response to the CNBC, a Google Spokesman stated that they temporarily disabled the program back in July after some audio recordings were leaked.
