OnePlus One smartphone goes up in flames

Smartphones catching fire is not a new thing, and it has happened even to industry giants, Samsung, and Apple. Although Samsung’s incident was extreme, that it prompted the company to recall all the affected Galaxy Note 7 devices.

In a new occurrence, a OnePlus One device has been reported to have caught flames in the middle of the night in an isolated event.

The company has already reached out to the matter according to a familiar source.

“We take such incidents seriously. Our team has already reached out to the user and is investigating this further.” the company stated.

The user reported that the device was in switch off mode and wasn’t charging, but he was awakened at 3 am by suffocating and nauseating fumes that had filled the entire room. The device didn’t explode as the owner extinguished the flames with water.

The victim in a letter to the company demanded Amazon and OnePlus to own up the “manufacturing defect” and redress the grievances caused.

Is it worth questioning the quality of OnePlus smartphones? Maybe not. But this is the third incident with OnePlus devices; other users have nothing to worry.
