Top smartphones with high battery capacity for heavy users in Kenya


Battery endurance is one thing we all want when it comes to our favorite gadgets. There are a ton of devices out in the market, but when it comes to battery endurance, very few phones have the stamina to power the device a full a day.

So in this post, we compiled a list of some great devices in the market you can go for which have more battery juice specifically for heavy users.

1. Samsung Galaxy M30

Samsung Galaxy M30 was launched in March this year, primarily targeted at the youths. The device features the latest Android 9.0 Pie, 6.4-inch HD Super AMOLED display, 13MP front camera, 16MP selfie camera lens, and Samsung’s Exynos 7904 Octa-Core processor. Besides, the Galaxy M30 has a 13MP main camera and a 16MP selfie camera plus it comes in two variants 4/64GB or a 6/128GB both with microSD support. Galaxy M30 is powered by a massive 5000mAh Li-Po battery. Galaxy M30 is currently going for approx. Ksh 22,000 for the 4/64GB model.

However at lesser cash, you can opt for the Galaxy M20 with a 6.3-inch TFT display, similar battery capacity but has the internal storage is either 32GB or 64 with 3/4GB RAM. Galaxy M20 starts at a price of Ksh 18,000.

2. TECNO Pouvoir 2 LA7

TECNO Pouvoir 2 is one of the devices from Tecno with more battery juice in the market right now. The device goes at a price of approx. Ksh 15,500. Apart from the 5000mAh battery capacity like the Galaxy M30, TECNO Pouvoir 2 has 16GB of internal storage, 3GB RAM, a 6.0-inch display screen, 13MP both selfie and main camera and runs on Android 8.1 Oreo. You can still go for TECNO Pouvoir 2 AIR LB6 which is a bit cheaper but with less RAM and ROM but uses a similar chipset and is still powered by a 5000mAh Li-Po battery.

3. Huawei Y9 (2019)

Huawei Y9 was announced back at the end of last year. Though it uses Android 8.1 0reo like the Pouvoir 2, the device also features some great features like more battery juice and massive internal storage space. At approx. Ksh 21,000 Huawei Y9(2019) has a 6.5-inch IPS LCD, 4000mAh battery, Dual main camera setup (13+2MP) and internal storage of 64GB. The phone is available in two models; 3/64GB and a 4/64GB model.

4. Oppo F11

Oppo F11 is yet another phone out in the market appropriate for heavy users. The device was just recently launched with a 6.53-inch FHD+ IPS LCD display, 4020mAh battery, 48MP main snapper, a 5MP depth sensor, and a 16MP selfie camera. Oppo F11 is available in two models; a 4/64GB model or a higher 6/128GB model. Oppo F11 goes at approx. Ksh 25,000 for the 4/64GB model. With Oppo, they also have some devices like the Oppo A9 which features a similar battery capacity but it’s a bit expensive than the basic Oppo F11.

5. Infinix S4

Infinix has a bigger lineage of massive battery models though I had to go with the latest ones to ensure they have the latest Android version and processor. Inifinix S4 has a massive 4000mAh battery which powers the 6.26-inch HD+ LCD capacitive touch screen. The screen to body ratio is 19:9. Other features include; Android 9.0 Pie, 13MP + 8MP + 2MP rear camera and a 32MP selfie camera. Infinix S4 goes at Ksh 14,999 for the 4/64GB model while the 6/64GB model will set you back Ksh 17,999.

6. Infinix Hot 7 Pro

Infinix Hot 7 Pro, another device from Infinix, launched in April also does the job better for heavy users. The handset features a massive 4000mAh battery like most smartphones in the list. Infinix Hot 7 Pro specs include; 6.2-inch display, 13+2MP dual selfie and front camera, rear-mounted fingerprint and runs on XOS 4.1 on top of Android 8.1 Oreo. It goes at Ksh 10,999.

7. Huawei Y7 Prime 2019

Huawei Y7 prime the 2019 edition is another complete device that features better price to specifications. Just like other devices in the list, Y7 Prime 2019 features a bigger display coupled with a bigger battery for longer standby time. Huawei Y7 Prime features a 6.26-inch dewdrop display with HD+ resolution. Other features include a 16MP selfie snapper with a Dual 13MP+2MP main camera setup and have 3gigs of RAM paired with 32GB ROM expandable to 512GB via microSD. Still, the device runs on EMUI 8.2 on top of Android 8.1 Oreo. Price: approx. Ksh 16,500.

8. Xiaomi MI Max 2

MI Max 2 features a 6.44-inch full-HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and has 4/64GB memory configuration. A 5300mAh battery powers the device but it runs MIUI 10 on top of Android 7.1.1 Nougat which is a turn-off however ideal for individuals that want a bigger display, big battery device. On a similar note, the front camera is made of a 12MP lens while the selfie camera packs a 5MP lens. Xiaomi MI Max 2 goes at an approx. price of  Ksh 20,000.

9. Xiaomi RedMI Note 7

RedMI Note 7 from Xiaomi was launched back in January. On the spec sheet here’s what RedMI Note 7 offers; 6.3-inch FHD+ dot-drop display(LCD) with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection, Android 9.0 Pie out of the box,  Snapdragon 660 SoC, 4000mAh battery, a 48MP+5MP rear camera lens with AI capabilities and a 13MP front camera.

The device comes in multiple variants as follows; 4/128GB 4/64 GB, 4/32GB, 6/32GB ROM or 3/32GBROM configuration. The price, therefore, varies depending on which model you pick but the device goes at a starting price of Ksh 14,500 for the basic 3/32GB model. Alternatively, to the RedMi Note 7, you can opt for the Pro version which has a more powerful chipset, but you’ll have to dig deeper in the pockets.

10. Nokia 6.1 (2018)

Nokia 6.1 features a 5.5-inch IPS LCD display and comes with a 3/32GB memory configuration. The device runs on the latest Android 9.0 Pie. A 4000mAh powers the device. Other features include; LTE network support, OTG support, 16MP rear, and 8MP front camera and is powered by a Snapdragon 630 SoC. As per now Nokia 6.1 costs about Ksh 14,000 the best deal online.

11. Nokia 3.2

Nokia has a list full of devices in the Kenyan market and Nokia 3.2 was just announced by the company a week ago. Also a 4000mAh battery powers this device. Nokia 3.2 has a bigger 6.26-inch display and runs on the latest Android version. The device goes at a price of Ksh 13,999.

12. Vivo Y15

Vivo Y15 marks the entry of Vivo in Kenya. The device packs a 5000mAh battery which should be able to sustain more screen time for heavy users. Other specs include a 6.35-inch IPS waterdrop display(720 x 1544 resolution), 4GB RAM, 64GB ROM, triple rear camera setup (13MP + 8MP + 2MP), 16MP selfie camera and runs on Funtouch 9 on top of Android 9.0 Pie. Vivo Y15 sells in Kenya at Ksh 21,999.

13. Samsung Galaxy A50

Samsung Galaxy A50 despite being the highly-priced device on the list it also packs much more juice like the rest of the devices. It features a 6.4-inch AMOLED display (1,080 x 2,340 pixel), 4GB/6GB RAM, 64/128GB internal storage, 4000mAh battery with 15W fast-charge support, triple rear camera setup (25MP + 5MP + 8MP) and a single 25MP selfie camera. Samsung Galaxy A50 launched at a price of Ksh 30, 499 but you can get it as low as Ksh 26,000 currently.
