Airtel Unveils New Catholic Portal


Airtel has unveiled a Catholic Portal that will enable Catholics to access religious information at all times through their phone on the Airtel Kenya network. The launch came as Kenyans got ready to welcome Pope Francis who arrived in the country on Wednesday evening for a 3-day visit to Kenya.

The portal will provide Catholic services such as Holy Rosary, Mass Reading, Vatican radio, Hymns, Prayers, Bible reading and Bible stories for kids. The subscriptions options are available at Ksh5 for Daily subscription, Ksh 25 for Weekly subscription or Ksh 70 for Monthly subscription.

“We are delighted to join Kenyans in welcoming His Holiness Pope Francis to Kenya. We are now offering a Catholic service portal that will enable our customers to easily access relevant catholic services that will help them keep in touch with their faith”,  Airtel Kenya CEO Adil El Youssefi said.

Early this month, Airtel also partnered with the Catholic Church as a platinum sponsor for His Holiness Pope Francis historic visit to Kenya. The company donated Ksh. 10 million to the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) to support the ongoing preparations by the Catholic Church to welcome Pope Francis.

One can access the Catholic portal by dialing IVR Code should be 0900730775 FREE of charge. Once subscribed, they will have access to unlimited usage of the service and will be able to listen to any content or dial-in several times in a day as long as the subscription is valid.  When using the service, the system will prompt one to select an option for a specific service.
