Twitter adds autoplay to videos

In an attempt to increase its video views, twitter has announced that it has added an auto play feature to videos uploaded to its platform.

Starting this week, videos embedded in Twitter’s timeline will automatically start playing when twitter users view on the Web, this will also apply on Twitter’s iOS app.

Twitter Announces Plan To Float On Stock Market

‘’Now native videos, Vines and GIFs will begin to play back automatically. So you can keep up with the action without missing a Tweet and get a better sense of what’s been shared instantly’’ the company said in a blog post terming the move a way of making things even easier for users to enjoy videos on twitter.

Twitter has also added a new fullscreen video player giving users a more immersive viewing experience. Once you tap the video, sound will turn on and the video will continue to play in an expanded view. If you turn the video to landscape mode, the sound will automatically turn on and the video will expand to fill the screen.

Users will have the ultimate control of this feature through their settings. You can choose to revert to the previous click-to-play experience all the time or simply have videos auto play only when you’re connected to Wi-Fi. If you’re somewhere with high data rates or you have low bandwidth on your device, the company says it will opt you out of auto play to avoid unexpected charges or slow performance; so you’ll continue to see videos as click-to-play.

Twitter has started rolling out this change to everyone today for iOS and twitter.com; and it says the Android version is coming soon.
