Microsoft Unveils new range of Lumia Smartphones into the Kenyan Market

Microsoft Mobile Devices has unveiled the new range of Lumia phones comprising Lumia 640, Lumia 640XL and the the Lumia 430 Dual SIM into the Kenyan market.

The new Lumia devices were launched under the banner of a new consumer campaign dubbed#AchieveMore, which seeks to inspire users to increase their productivity by doing more with their Lumia phones, whether at work or at home.

“People around the world have responded enthusiastically to our affordable Lumia range. We continue to invest in this segment to ensure that as many consumers as possible can enjoy signature Microsoft experiences, regardless of budget,” Mariam Abdullahi, Microsoft General Manager for East Africa said during the launch.

Lumia 640 and 640XL offers more personal computing and increased productivity through seamlessly integrated Microsoft Office experiences which comes with one year free subscription, OneDrive storage and fast 4G connectivity. Both devices will upgrade to and benefit from Windows 10 as it becomes available later this year.

With the Lumia 640 and 640XL, users can smoothly and quickly access important documents or run all of your favorite websites, apps and games, thanks to the on-board 1GB of memory and powerful quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.

Users can also view photos and watch videos on a crisp 5.7” HD display on both devices as you capture detail rich photos even in low light, thanks to the 13 MP camera on the Lumia 640 XL with LED flash and an 8 MP camera on the Lumia 640, also with an LED flash.

What’s more, you can stay updated on the most important information with Glance Screen, available on the Lumia 640 XL and enjoy Windows Phone 8.1 and the Lumia Denim update, complete with one-swipe Action Center, Word Flow and Live Folders on both devices.

Microsoft also unveiled  its most affordable device, the Lumia 430 Dual SIM, built with Windows Phone 8.1 software with a dual-core CPU running at 1.2GHz.

The device comes preloaded with Microsoft Office, Skype and OneDrive and is designed to help you #AchieveMore at work, at play and on the go. It also features a compact, durable and colorful design with a vivid 4-inch WVGA display that brings all the latest apps, games and videos to life. It also comes with 30 GB of free cloud storage on OneDrive for

“The Lumia 430 Dual SIM continues our commitment to combining the right hardware, software, services and apps with the right price to give people a smartphone they can afford and be proud to use,” Ms. Abdullahi said.

These are the latest LTE / 4G smart devices to join the Lumia portfolio in Kenya and will retail at Kshs 19,999 and Kshs 25,750 respectively while the Lumia 430 will retail at Kshs 8,850.
