In marking its tenth anniversary, Facebook has come up with a new feature that creates personalized videos highlighting users’ top content since they joined the social network.

The “Look Back” feature starts with some music on the background and then  starts by recounting when the user joined facebook, showing his or her first profile picture. It continues to show users first moments then followed by their most liked posts including pictures and status update.

From there the video shows users’ popular pictures they have shared over the years. The whole experience using the feature brings about the nostalgic feeling helping one get a preview of some memorable moments on facebook within a minute.

Once one is don , the user is given an option to share their videos on their timeline by clicking “Share my Video” button at the top-right of the page.

Apparently, Facebook CEO’s, Mark Zuckernberg signature is on each video of all the 1.23 billion users. Zuckerberg also commemorated Facebook’s birthday with a post on his timeline saying that he never imagined Facebook would be what it is today, but he said he is more excited about what is still to come than what the company has already accomplished.

Previously, the company has allowed users to look back at their content with static Year In Review pages, but never has the company created personalised video montages for each of its 1.23 billion users.

On an update, on Mark Zuckerberg timeline on facebook he said  that he always thought this was important  giving people the power to share and stay connected, empowering people to build their own communities themselves.

“When I reflect on the last 10 years, one question I ask myself is why were we the ones to build this? We were just students. We had way fewer resources than big companies. If they had focused on this problem, they could have done it. That’s why I’m even more excited about the next ten years than the last. The first ten years were about bootstrapping this network. Now we have the resources to help people across the world solve even bigger and more important problems.”

Zuckerberg also said that It had  been amazing to see how all users had used facebook to build a real community.” You’ve shared the happy moments and the painful ones. You’ve started new families, and kept spread out families connected. You’ve created new services and built small businesses. You’ve helped each other in so many ways. “
