Yes, You can now Add and Switch Between Multiple Accounts on Instagram

Sometime back in November last year, Instagram was testing multiple account switching for both their iOS and Android. Little was said about this but the company has finally rolled the feature out, coming sooner that we expected.

Through a blogpost on its official blog, Instagram announced that starting this week, you can quickly and easily switch between multiple accounts.

With this feature, you can now add up to 5 Instagram accounts and quickly switch between them without having to log out and log back in. Instagram says this will be available on version 7.15 of the app.

So how do you add and switch between multiple Instagram accounts?
  1. Go to your profile and tap settings in the top right
  2. Scroll down and tap Add Account
  3. Enter the username and password of the account you’d like to add

To switch between accounts you’ve added:

  1. Go to your profile
  2. Tap your username at the top of the screen
  3. Tap the account you’d like to switch to

Of course one of the questions users will be asking is what push notifications they will get when they have added multiple accounts. Instagram says if you have added multiple accounts you may get push notifications from any account that has them turned on. This depends on when you last logged in and the number of devices that are logged in to an account.

To remove an Instagram account you’ve added, just go to your profile and switch to the account you’d like to remove. Tap settings in the top right. Scroll down and tap Log out of [username] or Log out of All Accounts. Logging out of all accounts will remove all the accounts you’ve added.

This is indeed a great milestone for Instagram. What the photo sharing platform should now do work on the ability for users to upload pictures from the desktop, or anywhere besides their mobile apps. No word has been said about this but I hope it is something Instagram is considering. For now, you will just continue uploading your photos through the mobile app.
