TECNO PHANTOM X Officially Launched in Kenya For Ksh. 50,000


After weeks of teasers, TECNO Mobile has officially announced its newest flagship smartphone, PHANTOM X. TECNO unveiled the device at an event that was held at EMARA, Ole Sereni Hotel, in Nairobi.

The TECNO Phantom X Launch even was graced by renowned influencers such as Jeff Koinange, Janet Mbugua, Grace Msalame, Nick Mutuma, Sharon Mundia, Victoria Kimani, Nameless, and Wahu.

The last time we saw a PHANTOM device from TECNO was in 2019 with the PHANTOM 9. At some point, TECNO had even hinted about discontinuing the series. This relaunch, the company says not only marks a jump forward of the brand to rival at the higher-end market section, but also a significant change to the competitive landscape in global emerging markets.

The PHANTOM X is features a curved 90Hz display. It comes with a 6.70-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1080×2340 pixels. 

TECNO PHANTOM X is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio G95 processor and comes with 8GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. It runs Android 11 and is powered by a 4700mAh battery.

For the cameras, the PHANTOM X adopts an industry-leading 50MP Ultra-Night Camera with a 1/1.3-inch Ultra-Large Sensor, making it easy to shoot crisp, professional photos.  TECNO says the 50MP Ultra-Night camera featuring 1/1.3-inch Ultra-Large sensor can take in 33% more light from the outer environment compared to camera featuring 108MP camera with 1/1.5-inch sensor. The selfie camera is a 48-megapixel with an f/8 aperture.

PHANTOM X also comes with a 4700mAh battery that TECNO says can support 30 days standby battery life, 16-hour video streaming and 9-hour video meeting when fully charged. With a 33W flash charge, 30 minutes of charge can pump up charge to 70% battery life and 60 minutes of charge pumping up to 100%.

Just like the PHANTOM 9, we are also getting an in-display fingerprint scanner on the PHANTOM X and an additional quick face unlock for bio-authentication.

The phone comes in Van Gogh’s Starry Night Blue and Monet’s Summer Garden colour options and will be available for Ksh. 49,999.
