TECNO Camon 18 Series Will Feature MediaTek’s New Helio G96 Chipset

TECNO has announced plans to unveil a new device in its Camon series – Camon 18. The company does not mention the exact dates it plans to make these devices in the market but what we know is that they will be launched this October.

TECNO has now confirmed that a device in the series will debut the Mediatek Helio G96 chipset, at least in the African market.

The newly launched MediaTek Helio G96 chipset is ideal for powerful 4G smartphones for the mainstream market, and is equipped with enhanced technology features which boost display and photography experiences.

The Helio G96 SoC ensures support for 120Hz displays with up to FullHD+ resolution. The Helio G96 120Hz display has no limitation in DDIC supply, C-phy or D-phy interface, and would support both LCD or AMOLED displays according to MediaTek.

It also has support for up to 108MP cameras, fast Cat-13 4G LTE WorldMode modem integration, dual 4G SIM and VoLTE and ViLTE services, as well as Intelligent Resource Management Engine and Networking Engine.

MediaTek Helio G96 also features two powerful Arm Cortex-A76 processor cores clocked up to a speedy 2.05GHz in its octa-core CPU, and Arm Mali-G57 provides great graphics performance.

TECNO CAMON series was first launched in 2018 with a dedication to bring pioneering camera technologies to African consumers. It has grown to be one of the most popular camera phones.

TECNO says the Helio G96 chipset will allow the TECNO CAMON series to further enhance its position and provide cutting edge display and photography capabilities.

Last week, MediaTek announced that it’s making the chipset available in the Kenyan market.

“With the launch of the Helio G96, MediaTek advances its position as the leading mobile chip innovator, delivering new system-on-chips to boost display and photography experiences for the mainstream market,” said Christo Wessels, MediaTek Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa.
