Samsung’s Pricey Galaxy Fold Officially Announced in Kenya For Ksh 237,999

After teasing about an imminent launch of the Galaxy Fold, Samsung’s flexible display smartphone has been finally announced. The Fold is more of an enthusiastic device, bringing just more than a new form factor especially with the endless multitasking possibilities.

The device features a 7.3-inch Infinity flex display (2152×1536 pixels) and can be bent to be more compact when you don’t need a large tablet-like display. Unlike Huawei’s Mate X, the Galaxy Fold hides its flexible panel when folded, giving you a smaller 4.6-inch HD+ Super AMOLED Display.

The device is also optimized to support the folding mechanism. It brings app continuity while switching between the two forms plus multi-Active Window capability. You can open up to three active apps simultaneously in the flat form.

Apart from the new form factor, the Galaxy Fold packs 12GB of RAM, a dual battery system, wireless power share like in Samsung’s latest flagship devices, and 512GB internal storage. The device also has stereo speakers from AKG. Samsung Dex is also supported so you can enjoy a desktop-like experience on your device. The whole device runs on Qualcomm SDM855 Snapdragon 855.

“Samsung is writing the next chapter in mobile innovation history by changing what’s possible in a smartphone. Galaxy Fold introduces a completely new category that unlocks new capabilities never seen before with our Infinity Flex Display.” said Charles Kimari, Samsung Electronics East Africa, Head of Mobile Division.

“We created Galaxy Fold for those that want to experience what a premium foldable device can do, beyond the limitations of a traditional smartphone.”

Samsung Galaxy Fold price starts at Ksh 237,999, and the company has already stated the units have been sold out. Questions about the number of units that were available are valid, but Samsung says they will restock the device.
