Safaricom has announced the launch of a new post-pay tariff offering bundled Voice, SMS and Data services. Dubbed “Advantage Plus,” the tariff will be available to all Safaricom customers who may wish to migrate to the monthly post-pay service.

“As the market transforms in line with new shifts in customer behavior, our new offering intends to take advantage of the increasing demand for blended offerings that span across voice and data. Advantage Plus will enable subscribers to access up to 85% more value as compared to our other tariffs,” Sylvia Mulinge, Director – Consumer Business Unit, Safaricom said.

Although Kenya remains a predominantly PrePay market, Safaricom says it has noted the continued need to cater for increasing demand from customers who are attracted to the PostPay concept and who are keen to extract as much value from their mobile use.

The introduction of Advantage Plus will supplement the successful Karibu PostPay bundle scheme introduced in October 2011, which saw the number of Safaricom subscribers on the PostPay tariffs increase to over 700,000 by December 2015.

The new service launched just a few days after Safaricom announced a fresh suite of new data products that will offer its subscribers an enhanced user experience with access to faster data, in a strategic move aimed at reaffirming its growing demand for data products among the core PrePay subscriber base.

For the first time in the market, subscribers will be able to sign up for the service using their phones, without needing to go into a retail outlet. Safaricom customers will simply need to dial *100# from their PrePay lines or *200# from their PostPay lines to subscribe to the Advantage Plus Plans.

The telecom says Advantage Plus will offer subscribers increased value for mobile telephony services at rates that are significantly lower than market rates and will be available on a 30-day basis with no roll over of resources.

Safaricom is retaining Karibu postpay for existing Karibu postpay customers. Existing Safaricom Karibu postpay customers will be able to join the Advantage Plus packages on a voluntary basis. Their existing resources will be moved to Advantage Plus and the prevailing expiry dates will apply.

The bundle offers a choice of three price points ranging from an entry level Sh2,999 package to the more versatile Sh9,999 offering.
