OPPO A83 With Face Unlock Launched in Kenya: Price, Specification


We had already told you that OPPO was planning to unveil a mid-range full screen display device in the Kenyan market. Well, they finally did it today.

According to James Irungu, OPPO Kenya PR and Communications Manager, the OPPO A83 gives the company  an opportunity to reach out to consumers’ in the mass market segment who are looking for a device that offers functionality and an outstanding design at an affordable price.

Inspired by the previous major launches by the company in the country, the new device has also been embedded with a 5.7” Full Screen with 18:9 aspect ratio and 1440×720 resolution also equipped with face unlock  and the A.I. Beauty Recognition Technology. Remember this technology was one of the key selling point of the OPPO F5 which was launched last year.

The dual-SIM (Nano) Oppo A83 runs on Android 7.1  Nougat-based on OPPO’s ColorOS 3.2. It comes with an octa-core processor, which is a MediaTek MT6763T SoC clocked at 2.5GHz, coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage expandable to 256GB using an SD card.

The device comes with an 8 MP front camera and 13MP rear camera to take advantage of the AI technology and a 3180 mAH battery capacity. The rear camera supports Ultra-HD mode that can create an image of 50-megapixel resolution. Similarly, the front camera sensor enables face unlocking.

In terms of connectivity, the OPPO A83 has 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The smartphone also comes with a pre-installed O-Share file-sharing app that is claimed to transmit six to seven photos in just a second
