Liquid launches cyber security centre to help fight cyber crime in the country
Liquid Intelligent Technologies has launched a Cyber Security Fusion Centre (CSFC) in an effort to respond better to cyber threats. Liquid, a subsidiary of pan-African IT company Cassava Technologies is among the leading internet service providers in the continent
This is the second cyber security centre that the company is launching in Africa, after setting up a similar outfit in South Africa in July. The company aims to establish five more such centres across the continent, providing cyber security detection and prevention solutions to enterprises.
“The increased number of digitally transformed businesses and individuals means that the target pool for malicious entities is also becoming wider. As a result, we have witnessed immense interest from customers wanting to partner with us to benefit from the services, “ said David Behr, CEO of Liquid C2, the company’s arms with cloud services and cyber security.
“We have brought the same expertise to Kenya’s ever-growing digitally connected population. Through our matrix of Fusion Centres, Liquid C2 will predict, prevent, detect and respond to cyberattacks that target our customers,” said David.
Statistics indicate that the population of Kenyans that were digitally connected as by 2021 was nearly 22 million. Across the globe, cyber security threats have increased over the years as more people adopt the use of gadgets connected to the internet.
“The launch of this Fusion Centre is our initiative to highlight that we are aligned with the Government’s ambitions to provide cyber protection as they build Kenya’s digital super highway for the empowerment of every citizen with information and opportunities,” said Adil El Youssefi, CEO of Liquid Intelligent Technologies Kenya.
The event was also attended by the Head of National Cyber Command Centre (NC4), Colonel Evans Ombati, and Communications Authority Director General Ezra Chiloba.
Mr. Chiloba said the government is working on a framework to help regulate the cyber space better. He noted that with the fast evolution of cyberspace, there is a need to review the existing framework in order to continue delivering value to Kenyans, given that the government is focused on investing significantly in the digital superhighway.
