LG C8 OLED : LG’s latest OLED TV with Google Assistant

LG C8 OLED: In a previous article we wrote about how many TV manufacturers are now pushing OLED TVs as the largest and greatest flat-screen TV in 2018. One of the companies at the forefront in adopting this technology is South Korean electronics giant LG Electronics.

Early this year at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2018, LG Electronics was honored with more than 90 awards, led by the official best TV product award for the fourth consecutive year. This time around, the company was honored for the new LG AI-enabled OLED TV (Model C8). LG also earned numerous best-of-the show honors for the W8 series, and also for the LG 4K UHD Projector.

Well, in this article I will be telling you about the C8 Model or what LG is calling the LG C8 OLED. What are the specifications? What’s so special about it and how different is it from its 2017 counterpart – the LG OLED C7?

2017 OLED LG TVs are all-time favorite TVs for high-end buyers and the 2018 models look to continue that trend with a line-up, and feature set that’s mostly the same. The biggest improvement in the 2018 models is the integration of Google Assistant.

The LG C8 OLED combines an impressive picture, an extensive set of features, an attractive design and its unrivaled smart platform to deliver one of the best TV experiences we have seen to date. The inclusion of LG’s ThinQ also means that the C8 model can act as your home hub. As a smart home hub, you can connect the TV to other smart home devices like vacuum cleaners, air conditioners, smart speakers and much more. This makes it easy for you to control any smart home appliance as long as it is connected to the new TV via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.

”DeepThinQ was developed at LG’s Artificial Intelligence Lab in Korea to accelerate research into AI.” Moses Marji, the LG General Manager for Marketing East Africa, said in a previous chat we had with him on ThinQ.

‘’DeepThinQ boasts AI functions such as voice, video and sensor recognition and space and human body detection, developed with data gleaned from usage habits of LG customers over the years, ‘’ he said.

If you have managed to watch or read some reviews of the LG C8 OLED TV online then you will agree that LG Electronics has produced a stunningly advanced 4K OLED with the C8. Available in 65-inches and 55 inches, LG says the TV offers knockout images, and fine detail performance and is undoubtedly one of the finest OLEDs we have seen.

Just like the bulk of LG’s 2018 OLEDs, the C8 uses the new LG’s α9 Alpha intelligent processor. This high-performance silicon boasts the most advanced image processing we have yet seen on a consumer TV.  According to LG, α9, optimized for OLED TV allows for clean and sharp images with accurate color and even more detailed HDR images.

In terms of design, the LG C8 OLED TV comes with an elegant simplicity with LG putting so much emphasis on the ultra-thin nature of the OLED panel. There’s no bezel, LG decided to go with a black metallic trim around the outer edge.

Connectivity options include HDMI, one on the rear and two on the side, three USB ports, LAN, CI Slot, headphone, and WI-FI as well as Bluetooth.

LG says it’s constantly innovating its product offering and educating its current and potential customers about any new developments with their products. The LG C8 OLED is one of these products and it’s definitely a TV to watch out for this year.
