Huawei nova9 SE Unboxing: Huawei Mobile Kenya is planning to unveil the Huawei nova9 SE in the country later this week. The phone is its latest addition the nova series and is expected to retail at Kshs 39,999.
The phone has been up for pre-order from all Huawei retail stores across the country including Huawei Experience from last week with those who pre-order getting free Band 4 series.
In this article, we will be unboxing the Huawei nova9 SE and giving you some first impressions. The nova9 SE is a pretty decent looking phone featuring some really powerful specs. This includes a 6.78-inch touchscreen display offering a resolution of 1,080×2,388 pixels and a 90 Hz refresh rate.
Under the hood, we are getting a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 processor alongside some 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The nova 9 SE is powered by a 4,000mAh non-removable battery.
For the cameras, the nova 9SE on the rear packs a quad-camera setup featuring a 108-megapixel (f/1.79) primary camera; an 8-megapixel (f/2.2) camera; a 2-megapixel (f/2.4) camera, and a 2-megapixel (f/2.4) camera. It has a single front camera setup for selfies, featuring a 16-megapixel sensor with an f/2.2 aperture.
The nova 9 SE runs EMUI 12 and comes in Crystal Blue, Midnight Black, and Pearl White colour options.
What’s in the box?
The packaging has the usual accessories: The nova9 SE itself, a wall adapter supporting 66W fast charging, a silicone case, a sim ejector pin and some user guide.
As I mentioned earlier, the nova9 SE is a pretty shiny looking phone. It comes with a 6.78-inch touchscreen display offering a resolution of 1,080×2,388 pixels and a 90 Hz refresh rate. The exterior looks amazing, with a punch-hole selfie camera at the top centre of the display. The thin bezels give the nova9 SE a premium feel.
The speaker grille, charging Port and Microphone are all at the bottom. There’s no headphone Jack which I think is something we should already get used to with most smartphones for now.
The volume and power buttons are all on the right side while the top side houses separate slots for the two SIM cards. The power button also serves as the fingerprint scanner.
The back houses a quad-camera setup featuring a 108-megapixel (f/1.79) primary camera; an 8-megapixel (f/2.2) true-chroma camera; a 2-megapixel (f/2.4) ultra-wide camera, and a 2-megapixel (f/2.4) ultra spectrum camera. The 108MP camera is actually one of the key talking points for this phone and we will be putting it to test and share our findings in our full review.
The colour option we got for review is Crystal Blue. Again it’s a nice looking colour option but it’s a fingerprint and smudge magnet. You can however use it with the clear case included in the packaging.
Huawei Mobile Service
This is the second Huawei phone we will be using that does not ship with Google services. What this means is you won’t be able to really enjoy a number of Google apps that come with all other Android smartphones. But does that mean you won’t be able to use the Huawei nova9 SE, NO. You will still get to enjoy a smooth smartphone experience as Huawei is giving you options thanks to Huawei Mobile Services.
For example, Huawei replaced Google Play Store with the Huawei App Gallery where you can find some of your favourite apps including local ones. Downloading them is easy, you won’t struggle much.
For the apps you cannot get on the Huawei App Gallery, you can download them through platforms such as APKPure.
Huawei nova9 SE availability
Huawei Mobile Kenya plans to officially launch this device in Kenya on 6th May for Kshs 39,999.
