After the HarmonyOS announcement, Huawei’s sub-brand Honor has launched Honor TV powered by the OS today. Honor’s TV dubbed Honor Vision Pro is yet another 4K display smart TV which includes some new yet-to-be-seen features on the market like a pop-up selfie camera and well, HarmonyOS.
A pop-up camera on a TV sounds intriguing; we haven’t even considered this on laptops yet. The new TV comes in two models: Honor Vision and a Pro model which features a pop-up camera. Both models are 55-inch panels with 4K UHD display, and the chassis is only 6.99mm thick. A sleek TV which makes it easier to be mounted on the wall.
The pop-up camera is not a gimmicky though, Honor states it can shoot 1080p videos. Honor’s smart TV can achieve up to 400nits screen brightness and also delivers 178-degrees wide-angle view.
The whole setup is powered by Honghu 818 CPU from Huawei that was recently launched specifically for TVs. The CPU can deliver High Dynamic Range Imaging (HDR), Super-Resolution, and even Noise Reduction. Also, the TV can automatically handle dynamic contrast improvement, auto color management, and even perform actions like blue-light dimming to prevent eye strain.
Most importantly, to fulfill Huawei’s vision of seamless interaction between devices with HarmonyOS, Honor’s smart TVs could be used as a smart hub. With NFC support, the TV can also be remotely controlled directly from your phone, which is not that new in the industry.
The TVs are only available for the Chinese market selling at around $680 for the Honor Vision Pro while the base model sells at about $540. Global availability is not yet known; we will be waiting to see how it turns out in the end.
