Public Service, Performance, and Delivery Management Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria says Kenyans will soon start paying a fee to access services across all Huduma Centers.
The fee, the CS says will enable all the 52 Huduma Centers across the country to generate revenue.
The centres offer a wide range of government services including national identity cards, birth certificates, NHIF services, police abstracts, registration of business names and applications for business licences, NSSF services, investor-related registrations, and many other services all under one roof.
“You have been enjoying these services without paying, there is no more free lunch. You have to pay for it, we will introduce fee for service for government service and private service to support our e-commerce because Huduma Centre will be the backbone for e-commerce,” said Kuria.
The CS was speaking during the official takeover of the State Department of Public Service, Performance and Delivery Management docket which he was transferred to recently.
The Huduma Kenya Programme is a Kenya Vision 2030 flagship project that was launched by former President Uhuru Kenyatta in November 2013. The project saw the government set up Huduma Centres across different parts of the country to enhance efficiency in public service delivery.
