Tecno’s first foldable smartphone starts selling in Kenya for Ksh. 130k

Customers in Kenya can now buy the Tecno PHANTOM V Fold, Tecno’s first foldable smartphone that has been available for pre-order from early this month.

The PHANTOM V Fold is part of the company’s Phantom X2 series and also marks the brand’s emphatic entrance into the foldable device market to take on Samsung.

PHANTOM V Fold is the world’s first left-right foldable smartphone to be powered by MediaTek’s flagship Dimensity 9000+ processor that has also been used on the Oppo Find N2 Flip.

As we have previously noted, When closed, it has a 6.42-inch LTPO AMOLED cover display with a resolution of 1080×2550 and a refresh rate of 120Hz. When opened, it features a larger 7.85-inch (2000×2296) main display, which also is a 120Hz LTPO panel. This is actually a way larger screen than what we have on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4.

For the cameras, the Tecno PHANTOM V Fold features an ultra-clear 5-lens camera system, three of these cameras are on the back – a 50-megapixel main camera, another 50-megapixel 2x zoom camera, and a 13-megapixel ultrawide camera. The two selfie cameras on the other hand are 32-megapixel on the front screen and 16-megapixel on the inside.

When it comes to the battery,  the Tecno PHANTOM V Fold comes with a 5,000mAh battery with 45W wired charging. It does not have a wireless charging option.

The foldable smartphone will retail at Kshs. 129,999 for the 256 +12 GB and 143,999 for the 512 +12 GB excl. of VAT. It will be available at select Tecno stores countrywide, Safaricom shops as well as the PHANTOM website.
