Whatsapp Now Available on KaiOS; a Feature Phone Operating System

KaiOS is a feature phone OS that has been a Google side mobile OS for a while now. KaiOS features minimalistic design and UI and most importantly includes support of 4G VoLTE and a full-featured web browser.

KaiOS also enables feature phones to have smart capabilities by the inclusion of Google Assistant.

Google’s feature phone OS has been popularly distributed in Europe and Asia, and the major hiccup of the OS has been the lack of WhatsApp. Although some feature phones like the Jio’s JioPhone already had WhatsApp support, most feature phones running KaiOS were still left out of the cold.

Today, WhatsApp announced the rollout of a KaiOS based WhatsApp for feature phone users running the OS.

The OS has been popularly used in India, and the new support for WhatsApp may even translate to an increased user base in the country which currently stands as the stronger fan-base for WhatsApp.
