Cassava Technologies Launches Africa’s First AI-Powered Autonomous Network

Cassava Technologies has announced the launch of the Cassava Autonomous Network. This groundbreaking agentic solution is designed to significantly enhance mobile network performance across the continent through real-time, self-optimizing technology.

As the first “Africa-ready” autonomous network, the platform is purpose-built to navigate the unique complexities of the continent’s connectivity landscape. By automating the Mobile Radio Access Network (RAN), Cassava aims to bridge the gap between increasing data demands and infrastructure constraints.

The platform leverages high-performance AI infrastructure from NVIDIA, including NVIDIA NIM microservices and the NVIDIA Network Configuration Blueprint. This integration enables policy-driven automation, replacing traditional, labour-intensive manual adjustments with continuous intelligent optimisation.

Early benchmarks indicate the platform can improve operational efficiency by up to 75% and reduce repair times for minor network issues from four days to approximately 35 minutes. The platform can also streamline management via CAIMEx, a localised multi-model system that provides unified access to leading AI models through regional “AI factories.”

While 4G remains the dominant standard in Africa, the rapid expansion of 5G is adding layers of complexity to existing 2G and 3G systems. According to the GSMA 2024 Report, this multi-generational mix has made manual optimization a significant operational bottleneck for telecom operators.

The Cassava Autonomous Network addresses this by offering a vendor-agnostic solution. It supports legacy, hybrid, and cloud-native deployments across all network generations (2G through 5G).

“Cassava Autonomous Network combines NVIDIA’s AI infrastructure with a deep understanding of Africa’s unique network needs,” said Ahmed El Beheiry, Group COO and Group Chief Technology & AI Officer at Cassava Technologies. “We are delivering a significant step toward intelligent, self-healing networks that drive coverage, quality, and profitability across the continent.”

In a landscape where operators often juggle hardware from multiple global vendors, Cassava’s open architecture ensures that existing RAN investments are protected rather than replaced.

“In today’s multi-vendor landscape, flexibility is the ultimate currency,” El Beheiry added. “Our solution allows telecom operators to supercharge their existing hardware systems by introducing advanced agentic AI capabilities.”

The launch reinforces Cassava Technologies’ commitment to providing African businesses and operators with the innovative digital tools necessary to thrive in an increasingly connected global economy.
