AUI Global Partners with Konza to Improve AI Leadership in Kenya

The Konza Technopolis Development Authority (KoTDA) has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with AUI Global, a prominent leader in African AI executive education, to launch a comprehensive AI capacity-building program for Kenya’s flagship smart city.

Under the new agreement, AUI Global will deliver specialized AI workshops and ISO 17024-certified executive certification programs specifically tailored for the KoTDA board and staff. The partnership also extends its reach to the private sector, offering companies operating within the Technopolis the opportunity to enroll their teams in these advanced certification courses.

The initiative is designed to bridge the gap between AI awareness and strategic implementation. The training will focus on equipping leadership and governance teams with the tools to oversee responsible AI adoption, ensuring that the technology aligns with Konza’s broader smart city goals and Kenya’s digital ecosystem.

Deborah Bartlett, Executive Lead at AUI Global, noted that the partnership marks a pivotal step in the organization’s East African expansion.

“Partnering with Konza Technopolis allows AUI Global to deepen our roots in the Silicon Savannah,” said Bartlett. “Together, we will accelerate AI adoption and literacy in Kenya, ensuring that Kenya’s leaders are certified in AI to responsibly integrate AI to transform Kenyan businesses and society.”

By embedding AI literacy into the very fabric of its leadership, KoTDA aims to attract greater global investment and foster a high-tech environment where local enterprises can thrive.

John Paul Okwiri, CEO of Konza Technopolis, emphasized the competitive advantage this provides to the nation:

By teaming up with AUI Global, we are supporting Kenyan companies to achieve and maintain AI dominance; a move that aptly captures the inspiration behind our vision to be a global Technopolis spurring Kenya’s future through innovations and growing the Knowledge economy.”

As AUI Global continues to expand its pan-African footprint, this agreement serves as a landmark model for how smart cities can leverage specialized education to empower the next generation of tech professionals and governance leaders.
