How to Check 2025 KCSE Results

The Ministry of Education is set to release the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination results today, Friday, January 9, 2026. Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba is expected to preside over the official ceremony in Eldoret starting at 9:30 am.

This announcement follows weeks of anticipation from nearly one million candidates, parents, and teachers across the country.

A total of 996,078 candidates sat for the national examinations, which concluded on November 21, 2025. This cohort represents one of the final groups to be examined under the long-standing 8-4-4 education system as Kenya continues its full transition to the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC). The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) confirmed that the marking exercise was completed by mid-December, ensuring the results were ready within the traditional January release window.

Cabinet Secretary Ogamba recently dismissed rumors of early results, emphasizing that the ministry has remained on schedule. He noted that the release follows a rigorous verification process to ensure the integrity of the scores. During the examination period, approximately 418 candidates were flagged for various irregularities, and the CS is expected to provide an update on the status of these cases during his address.

After accepting the privacy and access notice, users can search for the results, which will be displayed instantly on the screen with an option to download a provisional result slip.

  3. Enter your Index Number and Exam Year.

The Ministry has acknowledged that the portal may experience high traffic volumes immediately following the announcement, which can lead to slow loading times. To address this, KNEC has unveiled several toll-free helpline numbers, including 0800721410 and 0800724900, to assist those facing persistent technical challenges. Candidates are encouraged to remain patient or clear their browser cache if the site fails to load on the first attempt.

Beyond digital platforms, candidates are advised to visit their respective examination centers to collect official result slips.

In a new policy move to streamline the process, the Ministry has also indicated that final certificates will eventually be collected from sub-county education offices rather than schools to prevent delays often caused by outstanding school fees.

Following the release, the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) is expected to open its portal for the first revision of courses. This will allow successful candidates to apply for placement in public universities, TVET institutions, and teacher training colleges based on their performance and career aspirations.
