Dan Kwach joins Madagascar based STELLARIX as Deputy CEO

In a significant move that signals a strategic shift in the African data center landscape, veteran technology leader Dan Kwach has been appointed as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of STELLARIX.

Kwach, who is widely regarded as one of the chief architects of Kenya’s digital infrastructure, transitions to the Madagascar-based firm following a monumental 19-year tenure at Africa Data Centres (ADC). His appointment at STELLARIX marks a new chapter for the executive, who has relocated to Antananarivo to spearhead the company’s ambitious pan-African expansion goals.

STELLARIX, a subsidiary of the AXIAN Telecom group, is rapidly positioning itself as a formidable player in the regional infrastructure market. The company specializes in Tier-III ready data center services, colocation, cloud hosting, and multi-operator connectivity. By bringing Kwach on board as Deputy CEO, STELLARIX is tapping into a wealth of experience in building, scaling, and commercializing high-stakes digital assets.

Dan Kwach’s career is inextricably linked with the evolution of data centers in East Africa. Joining the industry when the concept of third-party data hosting was still in its infancy in Kenya, Kwach played a pivotal role at Kenya Data Networks (KDN) before becoming the founding Project Manager for the East Africa Data Centre (EADC).

Under his leadership, ADC’s Nairobi facility (NBO1) became the most connected data hub in the region, hosting over 70% of Kenya’s banking sector and serving as a critical landing point for global cloud hyperscalers. His technical prowess is backed by elite credentials; he is famously the only Accredited Tier Specialist (ATS) in Kenya certified by the Uptime Institute.

Beyond technical management, Kwach has been a vocal advocate for “future-proofing” African tech. He has consistently championed the adoption of AI-ready infrastructure and sustainable practices, such as water-free cooling systems and solar integration, to ensure African data centers remain competitive on a global scale.

At STELLARIX, Kwach is expected to drive the company’s mission to simplify digital transformation for African enterprises. His role will involve overseeing strategic operations and advancing the firm’s footprint across the continent at a time when data sovereignty and localized hosting have become top priorities for African governments.
