TechTrends crowned Best Technology Creator at BAKE Awards 2025 gala night

TechTrends has been named the Best Technology Creator at the 2025 Bloggers Association of Kenya (BAKE) Awards, cementing its position as a leading voice in the African technology and business landscape.

The award was presented during the BAKE Awards Gala Night held on December 13, 2025, at the Baraza Media Lab. Operating under the theme “Reclaiming Our Digital Space,” this year’s ceremony celebrated the innovation, resilience, and impactful storytelling of Kenyan content creators.

TechTrends emerged top in the highly competitive Technology Creator category, beating other notable nominees including Tech-ish, Tech Space Africa, Ecrene Madaga, and Ken Talks Tech. The win underscores TechTrends’ consistent dedication to delivering high-quality news, reviews, and insights into the Kenyan and African tech markets.

Speaking on the win, Nixon Kanali, Founder and Lead Editor at TechTrends Media, expressed his gratitude to the readers and the digital community.

“This award is a tremendous honour and a validation of our team’s unwavering commitment to telling the African tech story,” Kanali said. “At TechTrends, we believe that technology is the heartbeat of our continent’s future. This recognition by BAKE and our readers fuels our passion to dig deeper, report faster, and continue highlighting the innovations that are transforming our daily lives.”

The 2025 ceremony marked a historic moment for the BAKE Awards, with the top honour, Creator of the Year, resulting in a tie for the first time. The award was shared by The JoyRide Podcast and Sarah Njoroge (who also took home the Agricultural Creator award), reflecting the intense competition and high caliber of content produced this year.

In his keynote address, BAKE Chairman Kennedy Kachwanya lauded the evolution of the local digital space.

“The standard of Kenyan digital content has not just risen; it has established a new benchmark for excellence,” Kachwanya stated. “We have moved from simple text to high-quality multimedia campaigns in areas like agri-tech, finance, and cultural storytelling.”

He further emphasized the need for a strong, ethical creator community as a “firewall against the erosion of public trust.”

Seline Awour, Head of Digital Marketing at Absa Kenya, commended the creators for their persistence. “I know it is not an easy job doing what you do, constantly serving your audience with new content… Thank you for giving your best in the digital world,” she said.

The BAKE Awards 2025 process began in September, with finalists selected by a panel of judges including Abigail Arunga, Martin Mburu, Leo Mutisya, Ahmad Salim, and Cecilia Maundu, followed by a public voting phase.

Preparations for the BAKE Awards 2026 are already in motion, with the season set to commence in January 2026 and the gala slated for June 2026.
