Google has announced the global launch of Gemini 3, its most capable and intelligent AI model yet, which promises to usher in a new era of reasoning and powerful agentic capabilities.
This launch is particularly significant for Kenya, recognized as a regional tech hub, where interest in AI has soared by 150% over the past year.
Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai stated, “In this new chapter, we’ll continue to push the frontiers of intelligence, agents, and personalization,” a sentiment that resonates in a country where searches for “AI jobs” have more than tripled.
The new era begins with the Gemini 3 Pro model, which is engineered to grasp unprecedented depth and nuance. The model demonstrates PhD-level reasoning, setting new benchmarks in complex problem-solving and multimodal understanding, including video, images, and handwritten text.
Beyond raw performance, Gemini 3 Pro introduces a new quality of interaction, designed to act as a genuine thought partner. Its agentic capabilities are significantly improved, allowing it to better understand user intent, plan complex, multi-step tasks, and execute them with fewer prompts.
This intelligence leap is immediately impacting how people interact with Google’s core products. For the first time, a new Gemini model is available in Google Search from day one. In AI Mode, Gemini 3 dynamically creates the ideal visual layout for a query, generating interactive tools and simulations on the fly. Users can now move beyond simply reading about a concept to engaging with a custom-built loan calculator or a physics simulation in real-time.
The evolution extends to the Gemini app, which transforms into a personal assistant. For Google AI Ultra subscribers, the experimental Gemini Agent can orchestrate and complete multi-step tasks across connected Google apps. A user can ask it to “organise my inbox” or “Help me book a mid-size SUV for my trip,” allowing the agent to coordinate actions across different services like Gmail and travel comparison tools.
To empower the developer community, Google also launched Google Antigravity, an agentic development platform. This platform shifts the AI role from a coding assistant to an active partner that can autonomously plan and execute complex software tasks, such as building features and fixing bugs, fundamentally changing how software is developed.
Gemini 3 Pro is available globally starting today in the Gemini app and can be accessed by Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in AI Mode in Search, following Google’s most comprehensive safety evaluations to date.
