Paystack Suspends Co-Founder Ezra Olubi Amid Sexual Misconduct Allegations

Paystack, a leading African financial technology company, has suspended its co-founder and Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Ezra Olubi, following a public allegation of sexual misconduct involving a subordinate.

The allegation, which surfaced online, has been compounded by the resurfacing of several decade-old tweets from Olubi. This has intensified public scrutiny of his conduct and sparked a wider conversation about leadership accountability and workplace culture within Africa’s technology sector.

According to a report from TechCabal, Paystack confirmed it has initiated a formal investigation into the matter. The company informed the publication that it will “not comment further until the review is complete.”

Stripe, Paystack’s parent company, did not respond to TechCabal’s request for comment on the situation.

Ezra Olubi has not issued a public statement regarding the suspension or the allegations. His account on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) has been deactivated.

The incident has raised significant questions within the tech ecosystem about appropriate conduct, power dynamics, and the responsibility of leaders. This story is developing, pending the results of Paystack’s internal review.
