Android’s Circle to Search Just Got Smarter with Gemini AI
AI upgrades for Circle to Search bring visual intelligence, in-game support, and deeper multitasking to Android 16

Google is blurring the lines between apps, search, and AI with powerful AI upgrades for Circle to Search, reshaping how users interact with their screens.
Unveiled during Samsung’s latest Unpacked event — where the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, and Watch 8 lineup took center stage — the new AI-infused search experience feels less like a tool and more like a real-time assistant. Whether you’re stuck in a game, reading an article, or watching a video, Circle to Search now brings contextual AI help straight into the moment.
The star of this upgrade is Gemini AI Mode, Google’s conversational search engine that replaces old-school query boxes with smart, chat-driven results. Originally launched inside Google Search earlier this year, it’s now embedded into Circle to Search on Samsung and Pixel phones, letting users circle anything on their screen — text, images, app content — and instantly get AI-generated summaries, links, and deep-dive answers without ever leaving the app.
“See something interesting? Just long-press, circle it, and dive into AI-powered insights on the spot,” Google said in a statement.
In-Game Help, Without Hitting Pause
One of the most intriguing additions: Circle to Search now offers real-time gaming assistance. Whether you’re stuck on a tricky level or looking for character details, AI now fetches strategies, guides, and even timestamped gameplay videos — all without disrupting your session.
It’s like having a walkthrough built into your screen.
Gemini Gets Visual — Even on the Flip Cover
Google also showcased expanded Gemini Live integration — particularly on the Galaxy Z Flip 7’s outer cover screen. Now, users can point the cover display camera at objects and get instant Gemini AI explanations, without opening the device.
And that’s not all: Gemini is now woven into core Samsung apps like Calendar, Notes, and Reminders, with broader app support across Android brands expected soon. Plus, Wear OS 6 brings Gemini features to smartwatches — including the new Watch 8, Watch 8 Classic, and Watch Ultra — making AI assistance accessible from your wrist.
Why It Matters
Google isn’t just adding AI features — it’s redesigning mobile behavior. With AI upgrades for Circle to Search, users are no longer switching between apps, tabs, or tasks. Instead, information flows in the background, stitched into the context of what you’re doing.
From smarter gaming to visual AI recognition and multitasking on foldables, this evolution signals Google’s bigger push: AI that adapts to you, not the other way around.
