SISCOM Tech Launches New Data Center Cluster, Gains Data Controller Status

SISCOM Tech has unveiled its newest data center cluster, hosted within IX Africa’s Tier III-designed, 4.5 MW, 780-rack, carrier-neutral facility along Mombasa Road in Nairobi.

The move marks a major milestone in the company’s growth, instantly tripling its data capacity and granting customers direct access to East Africa’s most scalable, AI-ready colocation campus.

Coinciding with this launch, SISCOM has also been officially certified as a Data Controller under Kenya’s Data Protection Act. The designation affirms the company’s full compliance with national data governance, privacy, and security standards—key requirements for fintechs, AI innovators, public sector clients, and multinational organizations seeking trusted local partners.

“Every successful digital initiative rests on two cornerstones: trusted compliance and world-class colocation,” said Derrick Gakuu, Co-Founder of SISCOM Tech. “By combining our new Data Controller status with IX Africa’s hyperscale-ready facility, we’re giving African enterprises exactly what they need to build, launch, and scale without compromise.”

Through its strategic partnership with IX Africa, SISCOM customers will benefit from infrastructure capable of supporting high-performance, data-intensive applications. The facility is designed with future growth in mind, offering hyperscale capacity that will expand to a total of 22.5 MW, and is optimized for GPU-heavy workloads such as AI and machine learning. It also offers access to tier-one carriers and global cloud providers, ensuring low-latency, multi-cloud connectivity for modern digital operations.

The campus’s location in Nairobi, East Africa’s digital gateway, improves app performance and supports compliance with regional data-sovereignty frameworks. It also runs on Kenya’s renewable energy mix, reflecting SISCOM and IX Africa’s joint commitment to sustainable digital infrastructure.

Snehar Shah, CEO of IX Africa Data Centres, welcomed the collaboration, noting, “SISCOM’s cluster demonstrates exactly why we built IX Africa: to enable fast-growing African tech companies to achieve global-grade resiliency and scale, right here at home.”

With its new Data Controller status, SISCOM assures clients that personal data is processed in accordance with both Kenyan law and international best practices. Independent audits confirm the strength of its technical and organizational safeguards, and its systems support compliant cross-border data transfers, which is essential for regional expansion.

“Our customers can now combine bullet-proof compliance with hyperscale capacity in a single contract. That’s a game-changer for any organisation that wants to innovate quickly while satisfying boards, regulators, and investors,” added Gakuu.

SISCOM is already onboarding customers across fintech, digital media, government, e-commerce, and AI research sectors. Looking ahead, the company is exploring the deployment of additional edge nodes across East Africa to offer ultra-low latency experiences while maintaining a secure and centralized core at the IX Africa campus.
