NCBA Opens 99th Branch in Kawangware

NCBA Bank has officially opened its 99th branch in Kawangware, Nairobi, in a strategic move aimed at accelerating financial inclusion and strengthening its relationship with retail and SME customers.

Speaking during the launch, NCBA Ag. Group Director for Retail Banking, Dennis Njau, said the new branch is a reflection of the bank’s commitment to supporting small businesses and deepening its presence in high-potential communities. “Kawangware embodies the entrepreneurial spirit of Kenya’s SME and retail sector. This branch is more than just a milestone—it’s a step toward empowering local enterprises and advancing our goal to be the primary bank for SME and retail customers,” he noted.

The new outlet is designed to serve the growing financial needs of Kawangware’s dynamic business community, particularly the informal sector. Services offered include digital account onboarding, mobile loans, asset financing, and SME-specific solutions like NCBA tills—tools that help streamline cash management for small businesses.

Njau added that the opening also marks an enhanced partnership with the Nairobi County Government, aimed at expanding access to financial tools and capital for underserved communities.

Dagoretti North MP Hon. Beatrice Elachi, who attended the event, praised the initiative, saying: “This collaboration between NCBA and Nairobi County brings financial services closer to the people. It opens doors for thousands of entrepreneurs to grow, scale, and contribute to building a resilient, inclusive economy.”

In line with its “Change the Story” Sustainability Agenda, NCBA also led a tree planting exercise at Amani Primary School in partnership with the Missionary Sisters of Precious Blood, planting 110 trees and donating sustainable school bags and food supplies to support the local community.

With the 100th branch opening on the horizon, NCBA says the success of the Kawangware branch underscores its strategy of customer-centric growth, local empowerment, and sustainable banking.
