Opera Mini AI Integration Brings Free AI Tools to Africa’s Mobile Users

Opera Mini AI integration is now live in the browser app as the company moves to make AI more accessible. The app now has Aria, the browser assistant, integrated right in. Opera Mini already boasts over 100 million users across the globe, including Africa, and this move bridges the digital divide through affordable AI-powered mobile browsing.

Opera Mini AI integration brings a free browser chat assistant that pulls real-time web information, creates images, generates text, and summarises content without increasing data consumption or the app size.

“AI is rapidly becoming an integral part of the daily internet experience,” said Jørgen Arnesen, EVP Mobile at Opera. “Bringing Aria to Opera Mini is a natural step to enhance the feature set our users rely on daily.”

Opera’s multiplatform browser AI assistant, Aria, is at the centre of Opera Mini AI integration. It works across the desktop and mobile browsers and now even in the Mini app for Android. The Opera Composer AI Engine powers Aria, which combines with Google AI and OpenAI, including Imagen3 for image generation.

With high mobile data costs that hinder access to advanced digital tools on the continent, the Opera Mini AI integration will be especially handy.

Opera Mini is well known for its extremely data-saving features, and this integration brings free AI capabilities. Opera recently did a survey and found out that 59% of Nigerian users say mobile data is too expensive and that the bundles expire before the month ends.

These advantages, together with the free AI access, the app offers users a smarter and more efficient web experience for millions.

To get started with Aria:

  • Simply update the app on the Google Play Store
  • Open the browser and access Aria via the main menu or at the bottom of the home screen
  • Ask a question, summarise content, or generate images—all within seconds

“With Opera Mini AI integration, we’re empowering users across Africa to do more with less—from learning and creativity to information access—without sacrificing affordability,” added Arnesen.
