Fixo Solutions Unveils E-Hailing Platform for Fundis in Kenya

Fixo Solutions, a  Kenyan tech company, has launched a mobile-based hailing platform for handymen (Fundis).  Dubbed “Fixo!”, the company says the platform is set to transform how customers access the services of skilled fundis for routine and emergency home repairs.

Fixo! provides a seamless interface connecting its pool of handymen to users based on their specific needs and location in real time.

The platform features vetted handymen, including electricians, painters, plumbers, domestic appliance specialists and carpenters among others.

Key Features of the Fixo! platform includes an interface for booking services initiated on WhatsApp through a dedicated line 0790 222 777. It also features pre-screened and vetted fundis, an end-to-end interface on the platform and and round-the-clock availability to deliver support on demand within realistic time frames.

In its initial phase, Fixo! targets to onboard fundis across different categories and widen its footprint across key urban areas, with Nairobi serving as the pilot. The company is currently undertaking a rigorous screening exercise; those who meet the set criteria and obtain security clearance are on-boarded onto the platform.

“We are venturing into a space that has traditionally operated in a very unstructured manner and now seek to bring the very best of technology to create a coherent and dynamic ecosystem. Fixo! will bridge the growing gap between demand and supply for credible fundis while enabling users to access labour for emergency and routine maintenance works efficiently,” says Levi Nyakundi, founder and Chief Executive of Fixo Solutions.

Fundis, largely clustered under Kenya’s informal workforce, which accountsfor  80 per cent of the working population, access work largely on referral basis and for the most part, intermittently.

“In the short-term Fixo! seeks to disrupt the ecosystem positively, leveraging technology for the good of all. We have built our technology around a familiar and easily accessible platform and invested significantly in installing the critical components that deliver on trust, credibility and performance. In the long-term, we anticipate growing synergies with like-minded partners and creating sustainable opportunities, key among them capacity building and access to financial and associated services”, says Nyakundi.
