Meta-Sponsored Vambo AI & Futurize Hackathon Drives Innovation at Kenya Innovation Week 2024
The recently concluded Vambo AI & Futurize Hackathon, hosted during Kenya Innovation Week 2024, spotlighted Africa’s brightest tech minds as they developed groundbreaking solutions to address linguistic and inclusion challenges across the continent.
Sponsored by Meta, the hackathon provided a platform for innovators to use cutting-edge generative AI tools to solve real-world problems while fostering cultural and linguistic diversity.
Themed “Multilingual Solutions for Africa,” the 48-hour virtual hackathon brought together over 50 teams competing across four key categories: EdTech, FinTech, HealthTech, and ClimateTech. Using Vambo AI’s multilingual API, participants created solutions to bridge linguistic barriers and promote accessibility across diverse communities.
The hackathon culminated with a prize-giving ceremony at the AI Summit during Kenya Innovation Week, where winners in each category were recognized for their innovative contributions which were built using Vambo AI’s technology.
The winners included:
