Internet infrastructure provider WIOCC Group launches in Kenya

West Indian Ocean Cable Company (WIOCC) Group, the provider of digital infrastructure solutions and managed network services has expanded its presence into Kenya with the launch of WIOCC Kenya Limited.

Renowned as Africa’s Carriers’ Carrier, WIOCC provides robust, future-proof solutions designed to improve the service reliability, reach and efficiency of its clients’ networks.

With the completion of the Mombasa Metro Network, WIOCC says it delivers unmatched connectivity by interconnecting all major data centres in Mombasa. This strategic infrastructure allows clients to seamlessly scale their operations and access high-capacity bandwidth at key data centres and cable landing stations across Mombasa County.

In addition, a protected National Long Distance (NLD) network is being built between Nairobi and Mombasa and a Metro Network in Nairobi County set to be completed by the end of Q4 2024.

The next phase, planned for Q2 2025, will see the network extended to other counties and the borders with neighbouring countries.

“Through our significant investments in subsea assets, terrestrial fibre and metro networks, we are uniquely positioned to support the growing connectivity demands of the region and position Kenya as a leading innovation hub in Africa,’’ James Wekesa, WIOCC Group’s Chief Commercial Officer, said.

‘’Our investments enhance the ability to interconnect traffic from the 2Africa cable to other major systems such as SEACOM, EASSy, DARE1, PEACE and TEAMS, offering diversity and flexible service delivery across multiple data centres based on our client requirements.”

As Kenya’s telecom market grows rapidly, fuelled by improved international connectivity and infrastructure development, WIOCC says it is equipping Internet Service Providers (ISPs), Systems Integrators, Carriers, Managed Service Providers (MSPs) and other telcos with scalable, high-performance digital infrastructure.
