OPPO Implements On-Device Mixture of Experts Architecture, Boosting AI Processing Efficiency and More

OPPO has made a breakthrough as the first company to deploy the Mixture of Experts (MoE) architecture on-device, enhancing AI efficiency and paving the way for innovative mobile AI integration.

As AI technology advances, OPPO addresses performance challenges on resource-limited devices by collaborating with top processor makers to implement the MoE architecture for on-device tasks. The MoE architecture activates specialized sub-models(“experts”) for specific tasks, boosting processing efficiency by about 40%, which leads to faster AI responses, longer battery life, and enhanced privacy by handling more tasks locally. OPPO’s on-device MoE architecture significantly advances AI, reducing computational costs and enabling a wider range of devices to perform complex tasks, thus enhancing AI accessibility for a broader audience.

OPPO is dedicated to enhancing AI technology and expanding its accessibility, backed by over 5,860 patent applications and the opening of its AI Center in 2024, as it strives to deliver high-quality AI experiences across its smartphone lineup globally.

OPPO highlighted the potential of AI phones to enhance everyday life and emphasized that AI should be accessible to more users beyond just flagship models and select individuals. The company recently launched the midrange Reno12 series in the country which comes equipped with a range of GenAI features that will enable users to unlock their creativity and productivity.

The OPPO Reno12 series is hailed by the company as the ultimate AI phone, offering advanced features like AI Eraser 2.0 and AI Toolbox to boost creativity and productivity. The Reno12 series aims to be an intelligent AI assistant, automatically summarizing meetings and lectures while also offering tools like the AI Writer to help users overcome writer’s block.

The Reno12 5G excels for casual users and heavy multitaskers, featuring a 50MP main camera, 8MP ultra-wide, 2MP macro, and a 32MP front camera, all capable of shooting 4K video. You also get a convenient AI Eraser with a “Remove People” function for photos. Read our full camera performance review here.

If you want to experience OPPO AI on OPPO smartphones, you can visit their brand stores, which are spread across town, including at the Waterfront Mall, Sarit Centre, and Two Rivers Mall.
