Samsung Galaxy S24 FE Debuts in Kenya, Starting From Ksh 91,000

Samsung has updated its flagship S24 lineup by launching the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE in the country.

Regarding features, it compares well with the S24 Plus, and that’s a good thing. However, it brings a few updates over the S23 FE from last year, including the display and chipset. We’ll discuss that below.

First, regarding similarities and differences with the S24 Plus, we have the same 6.7-inch Dynamic OLED 2X screen on the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE without the Plus’ LTPO display – the bezels are relatively thicker on the S24 FE. Nonetheless, this is a 1080p screen featuring 120Hz refresh rate and support for HDR10+. The screen sports 1900 nits peak brightness. It has a matte aluminum frame and glass front and back protected by Gorilla Glass Victus+ and Glass 5 for the screen and the glossy back panel(the S24 series uses matte backs) respectively.

It comes with IP68 ingress protection. You also get an optical fingerprint reader instead of an ultrasonic one, Type-C USB 3.2, and hybrid stereo speakers(earpiece and bottom-facing speakers).

Under the chassis is the company’s in-house Exynos 2400e paired with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. It’s worth noting that this processor is the same as the Exynos 2400 but underclocked – its performance sits just below the S24+ when put under synthetic benchmarks. It also has Android 14 and OneUI 6.1 straight out of the box. It will get 7 years of software support – Android OS Upgrades and security patches.

You get Samsung DeX support and Galaxy AI, including Circle to Search, Composer, Note Assist, Live Translate, and more. Samsung continues to say some of the Galaxy AI features will be free until the end of next year.

For cameras, the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE features a triple rear setup featuring a 50MP main camera with OIS(just like the one on the S24+, S24, S23, S23 FE, and S22), an 8MP telephoto with OIS and 3X optical zoom, and a 12MP ultrawide. The 10MP front-facing camera takes care of selfies. Video recording is capped at 8K 30fps(the S23 FE could only do 8K@24fps) and 4K 60fps for the main and selfie cameras.

Keeping the lights on the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE is a 4700mAh battery that supports 25W wired charging, 15W wireless charging and 5W reverse wireless charging. 30 minutes on the charger will get you to 50%. It’s worth noting that the battery is bigger than the S23 FE’s by 200mAh but smaller than the S24 Plus’ 4900mAh battery.

For the color options, the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE comes in muted Yellow, Mint, and Graphite.

Pricing and Availability

The Samsung Galaxy S24 FE starts from Ksh 91,000. Samsung is bundling the Buds in the launch offer of Ksh 101,000.
