WhatsApp Features Rolling out This Month
Regarding free messaging platforms, Meta-owned WhatsApp ranks high with over 2 billion monthly users. WhatsApp is always looking to bring new features to the Android and iOS apps and these are the new ones rolling out this month.
Widgets for Chats
WhatsApp has a new improved chat widget feature for its iOS app. These widgets let you access chats from your home screen by using the latest iOS widget API. This widget is interactive and updates daily from the app. This means you can prioritize the chats important to you more conveniently – either individual chats or group chats with a small chat widget while a large widget can display up to four chats or group chats.
Search Shared Images on The Web
WhatsApp will soon let you search shared images on the web to verify their authenticity especially for frequently shared content.
When you open an image, there’s a new option with a new “Search on web” feature under the three-dot on the top right side. This new feature would work for all images sent by a contact or the ones frequently forwarded and come in handy when confirming the authenticity of a photo shared on the app.
New Colour Chat Themes
WhatsApp is rolling out the ability to choose more colours for your chat themes, up to 20 different colours to enable even more personalization for individual or group chats. There are 22 distinct themes as well to customize your chats even further. You can also use the same theme for two chats but with different wallpapers.
This feature is also rolling out to both Android and iOS apps.
Call Link Shortcut in Chats
WhatsApp now allows you to create a call link directly from your chats – individual or group without going to the Calls Tab. The call link is accessible right from the attachment menu within the chat interface.
