Elon Musk Officially Relocates X HQ to Texas

Elon Musk has quietly moved X’s official headquarters to a small town on the outskirts of Austin, Texas.

According to court documents, Elon Musk, the CEO of X, has moved the company’s headquarters from San Francisco, California to Bastrop, Texas, where Elon wants the ongoing lawsuit with Don Lemon, a former CNN anchor, to be handled. Lemon is suing Elon and X over a canceled partnership.

Don’s lawsuit, filed in a San Francisco court, claims that Elon Musk and his company, led by CEO Linda Yaccarino, deceived him with false promises and representations. This prompted Don to invest hundreds of thousands of dollars in creating “The Don Lemon Show” talk show, only to cancel the $1.5 million deal abruptly.

Elon Musk wanted the show to improve his and X’s reputation and attract brands that had ceased advertising on the platform.

According to Nicole Hollander, X’s real estate director, the company’s headquarters has moved to Bastrop, and X plans to relocate its Austin office employees to the new location. With 188 full-time employees in Texas, X has signed a three-year lease at Building 2 in Hyperloop Plaza, owned by Elon Musk.

Musk is consolidating his companies in Bastrop, where The Boring Company and SpaceX are also located, but the town’s residents are unhappy with the increased developments

X has closed its SF office and is relocating its Bay Area employees between Palo Alto and San Jose offices, while San Francisco officials seem unfazed by Musk moving X’s headquarters to Texas, indicating a shift in the city’s approach to accommodating such companies.

Founded in 2006 in San Francisco and later moving to the city’s Mid-Market neighborhood, X, formerly known as Twitter, announced plans to relocate its headquarters to Texas following California’s new legislation on gender identification in schools, as revealed by Musk in July.
